I used to get a much needed break when the Hospice nurse came to spend a few hours with my uncle.

There is nothing more difficult than looking after an elderly loved one. If you are lucky enough to have siblings try and set up a schedule.

I really like the “only me, could share, could simplify” framework, Paul. One layer I’d add is that something being technically shareable does not always make it workable to hand off. The person receiving care may not be comfortable with someone else stepping in, cognitive changes can make a new person or routine harder, and some responsibilities require training or so much coordination that the handoff creates work of its own. Sometimes the most useful question is not only “What can I delegate?” but “What kind of help would actually reduce the load in this particular care situation?”
