What is TheSeniorTechie?
I spent decades writing software for a living. COBOL on mainframes, Unix systems, early internet work. If that sentence already made your eyes glaze over, you’re exactly who I’m writing for.
My name is Paul Wilczynski. I’m a retired software developer, and I started TheSeniorTechie because I kept noticing a gap. There’s no shortage of tech advice out there. What’s missing is tech advice written by someone who’s actually in the same stage of life as the people reading it.
No jargon. No condescension. No assuming you already know the answer.
TheSeniorTechie is a newsletter, podcast, and growing community built around a simple idea: technology should make your life easier, not more frustrating. Every week I cover topics that matter to adults who didn’t grow up with smartphones in their pockets. Things like health apps that actually work, video calling that doesn’t require a tutorial, smart home devices worth the money, and online safety that doesn’t require a computer science degree.
We’ve been ranked #15 Rising in Technology on Substack, with over 1,200 subscribers and counting.

If you’ve ever handed your phone to a grandkid because you didn’t want to ask a “dumb question,” this is the place for you. There are no dumb questions here. There’s just technology, explained like a friend who happens to know a lot about it.
