Five services can handle phone errands, compare options, or pursue customer-service problems. The right choice depends on the task, the charges, and how much oversight you’ll need.

I recently got an email from a company called CallForMe introducing a type of service I had honestly never heard of. That’s where this article comes from.

Say you need to call three repair shops, but keep postponing it. AI phone calling services offer to make those calls and conduct the conversations for you.

You explain the job, provide details, and set boundaries. The assistant calls, speaks with the business, and reports back. Depending on the service, it can navigate menus, wait on hold, collect estimates, or request appointments.

This isn’t simply asking your phone to dial. The AI does the talking.

CallForMe: check stock and compare businesses

CallForMe adds calling to a compatible AI assistant. It calls US and Canadian businesses about appointments, estimates, stock checks, cancellations, and other errands. Personal numbers are excluded. If you make calls for an aging parent, here’s a guide especially for you.

Have you ever driven across town because a website suggested something was available, only to discover otherwise?

You could request a check of your exact item before leaving home. Or ask several repair shops identical questions, then compare their answers. CallForMe also describes waiting on hold and bringing you in when someone answers.

If a question comes up, it reaches you in your AI assistant’s text chat while the business waits. You type your answer, and CallForMe passes it along. You generally have about 45 seconds to respond. Without an answer, it says you’ll follow up on that point and continues with the remaining questions. It can also patch you in if that’s what you want. Give it your number, and it connects you the moment a person picks up, so you skip the menu and the hold and get right to the conversation. The difference is that it can also handle the question itself and only ask you in the chat if you'd rather not get on the phone at all.

No calling-service subscription is required. Pricing is $1 per answered call, including two minutes, then $0.40 per additional minute. Four answered two-minute calls would cost $4. Calls have a 30-minute maximum.

Starting requires $10 prepaid funding. This link gives you an additional $5. Automatic reload can be disabled, and unused credit is refundable within 90 days.

They gave me a few free credits to check it out, and I had it call a local restaurant to ask if they had fried chicken and how much it cost. When I listened to the recording after the call, it was really impressive. I couldn’t tell it was an AI talking.

ClawCall: delegate errands and join when needed

ClawCall advertises US outbound calling, including menu navigation and waiting on hold. It can bring you into conversations when a decision needs you.

If a question comes up that requires your involvement, ClawCall asks the other person to hold and rings your phone. It explains what’s happening and connects you only if you agree. If you don’t join, it returns to the business and continues.

That may suit you better than typing answers into a chat, particularly when you’d rather take over the conversation yourself.

After the free trial, a subscription is required. Monthly plans cost $4.99 for outbound calling, $8.99 with a reserved caller-ID number, and $14.99 with incoming assistance (AI answers the call first and forwards to you if necessary) on that reserved number. Ten calls on the basic plan average about 50 cents each.

The no-card trial ends after 30 calls or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. “Unlimited” means personal fair use, not bulk automated outreach. Annual plans are nonrefundable; monthly cancellations don’t receive prorated refunds.

Check host compatibility first. Language support remains unclear: pricing advertises 25 languages, while technical documentation says English only. I couldn’t verify which reflects actual availability.

PlaceCall: collect several inexpensive answers

PlaceCall supports business inquiries, estimates, reservations, cancellations, and rescheduling through compatible assistants. It returns structured results, transcripts, and recordings when recording is enabled.

For junk removal, you could give several companies the same item list and access details, then compare responses.

There’s no subscription. Its advertised rate is $0.10 per billable call, without per-minute charges, including hold time. A refusal can count: “No appointments available” may still produce a charge. Business-suggestion requests cost $0.05.

The advertised 250 free calls represent a shared credit balance; suggestions reduce what remains for calling. Its documentation excludes destinations in Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, and Nebraska.

Check coverage and assistant compatibility first. A low calling price won’t rescue an unclear request.

AskLucien: clarify arrangements in another language

AskLucien advertises 32 languages, translated results, and transcripts. You can follow translated text during calls, send private instructions, answer questions, or end the conversation.

Suppose you’re booking a hotel abroad. “Accessible room” doesn’t answer your actual question: are there stairs between the entrance and your room?

AskLucien describes hotel inquiries, reservations, routine appointments, pet care, repairs, and administrative arrangements. It also permits supported calls to private individuals.

A subscription is optional. You can buy credit packs or use subscription credits. Pricing depends on destination and duration, with an estimate beforehand. I couldn’t verify a universal per-minute price.

Website credit packs expire after periods ranging from 30 days to 12 months. Subscription credits accumulate while you subscribe but expire at the end of your final paid period after cancellation. Buying more doesn’t extend older credits.

Review your destination, call plan, and estimate before purchasing. Advertised language support doesn’t establish equal performance in every conversation.

Pine: pursue refunds and bill reductions

Pine handles calls, emails, website actions, and follow-ups for customer-service tasks, including disputes, refunds, bookings, cancellations, and bill negotiation. These are advertised capabilities, not guaranteed outcomes.

Have you ever abandoned a legitimate complaint because pursuing it felt exhausting?

An increased internet bill illustrates the appeal. Pine describes requesting lower rates, checking promotions, removing unnecessary fees, and following up. You may need to join a three-way call for verification or authorization.

Pine describes free and paid subscription options, with execution using credits. Its negotiation guide lists a 25% success fee for Free and Pro Monthly; certain other plans use credits without that fee. Plan names differ across its pages, so I couldn’t verify a complete, consistent personal-plan price list.

Applicable negotiations can trigger a temporary payment authorization based on estimated savings multiplied by 25%, lasting up to seven days. Unsuccessful work can still consume credits.

How to choose without creating more work

Start with one unfinished task. Would completing it provide genuine relief, even without substantial time savings?

Then test carefully:

Check whether email, online booking, or a callback would be simpler.
Confirm coverage, compatibility, and total charges.
Define what the assistant may agree to.
Decide whether you prefer text questions or a phone handoff.
Request confirmation details and inspect the evidence.
Count briefing, checking, and correction time afterward.

Google also offers calling assistance, but current requirements include a Pixel 11, Google AI subscription, and Phone app beta. Review its eligibility requirements. It’s just rolling out, so not everyone can use it.

Keep passwords and security codes out of experimental instructions. The FTC’s guidance covers general account protection, not these products.

Save evidence promptly. ClawCall deletes recordings after ten minutes and transcripts after seven days; metadata and copies held by connected assistants may remain longer.[

Which unfinished phone task would make a useful first test for you?
