TheSeniorTechie is a practical, plain-English guide to using today’s technology with more confidence. Whether you are an older adult trying to keep up without feeling overwhelmed, or a caregiver helping someone you love, you are in the right place.
I - Paul Wilczynski - write about the technology that affects real life: artificial intelligence, online safety, passwords, health technology, smart-home devices, digital estate planning, and the everyday tools that help us stay connected and independent. I also write about articles that are only indirectly tech-related: health, for example. Some articles are more tech, some are more senior.
What you will find here
Every article is designed to help you make a better decision, solve a real problem, or understand what is changing, without hype, jargon, or the assumption that everyone wants the newest gadget.
Here are some of the questions we explore:
How can I use AI in useful, safe, everyday ways?
How do I recognize scams and better protect my money, privacy, and accounts?
What is the best way to organize passwords and important digital information?
Which technologies can make it easier to live safely and independently at home?
How can a caregiver help a parent or spouse with technology without creating frustration?
What happens to online accounts, photos, subscriptions, and passwords when someone dies?
Which new devices and services are genuinely helpful, and which are mostly marketing?
The goal is not to turn you into a technology expert. It is to help you stay in charge of your own digital life.

Understand AI without the hype
Artificial intelligence is already showing up in search, writing, customer service, health care, phones, and everyday software. You do not need to become an AI expert to use it well.

Make aging in place easier
Technology can support independence, safety, communication, medication routines, home monitoring, and access to care. It can also create unnecessary complexity if it is chosen poorly.
Start here: Browse articles about smart-home technology, digital health, accessibility, and tools that can help people remain safely at home.
Help a parent, spouse, or loved one
Caregiving often includes technology: untangling a phone problem, finding an account login, protecting against scams, organizing important documents, or planning what happens to a person’s digital life.
Start here: Look for caregiver-focused articles on digital organization, family technology support, privacy, and planning ahead.
Why I write TheSeniorTechie
I am Paul Wilczynski, a retired software developer, independent author, and publisher in Asheville, North Carolina.
I have spent a career working with technology, but I write TheSeniorTechie from another important perspective too: I am an older adult who uses the same phones, websites, accounts, AI tools, health services, and connected devices that many readers are trying to understand.
I believe older adults deserve technology information that is practical, respectful, and honest. We do not need to be talked down to, rushed into buying something, or told that every new app is essential. We need clear explanations, sensible choices, and enough confidence to decide what belongs in our lives.
In its first year, TheSeniorTechie published hundreds of articles and three books focused on technology, aging, caregiving, and digital life. You can read the story behind the publication in One Year of TheSeniorTechie: What I Learned by Just Starting.

A final thought
You do not have to use every new technology. But understanding the options can help you make informed choices, stay safer, remain connected, and preserve your independence.
That is what TheSeniorTechie is here to help you do.
Welcome.
