Great info!

1. A carbon monoxide detector saved my family 3 Christmases ago at 12 am when it went off due to a heater malfunction. Called fire department, went to a hotel, etc. If you don’t have one, get one tomorrow!

2. Suffered a disastrous water leak from our ice maker while on vacation for 2+ weeks - led to a major house renovation - we now swear by various water detectors and remote turn off options!

Will work on some of these others when I visit my parents this month!

Thanks for sharing - that’s terrific first-person validation of home-based Internet of Things tech!

Really solid breakdown of the Flo by Moen's learning algorithm for anomaly detection. The shift from reactive alarms to predictive monitoring is where most homeowners dunno the ROI is actuallyinsane until they avoid that first $8k flood. I installed water sensors in a rental property last year and caught a slow hot water heater leak the first week. That separate WiFi network tip for IoT security is underrated too, most people skip segmentation thinking their smart bulbs are harmles.

My router has a separate section specifically for IoT devices which, I hate to admit, I haven’t started using. Switching all those devices seems like more than I’m prepared to bite off.
